Marriage, Relationship and Couples Counseling

I have been working with couples for several decades and truly love this work and am very passionate about helping couples learn how to be with each other while honoring their differences and helping them move from rupture to repairing the emotional connection with one another.

I offer hope and a safe place for all couples to be heard when they come in crisis or to enhance their relationship skills.  Couples counseling is helpful if you just want to learn how to communicate better or when you feel this is your last ditch effort to attempt to salvage the marriage or to create the relationship of your dreams.

Conflict in a relationship doesn't mean it's over, it's an opportunity for true growth to happen.

I don't just see couples, I specialize in working with couples and have had a lot of training in couples and marital therapy.

I am an Advanced Imago Relationship Therapist , completed an Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and have attended workshops and my work is informed by Encounter-Centered couples therapy, Discernment Counseling, Gottman's work, and others.

Individual Therapy

People often come to therapy because they feel stuck, in a rut and don't know what to do about various issues in their life (depression, anxiety, jobs, relationships, retirement, etc.).

My approach is psychodynamic, holistic and eclectic to access exactly where the problem or "stuckness" is in a persons life, thinking, emotions, body/ health or spirit. I start by building on the strengths, knowledge and knowing you already possess.

My goal is to empower you by providing you with the emotional tools you'll need to deal with lifes problems. Some of the ways I might assist you are:

-Teach you communication skills

-Help you learn relaxation and guided imagery techniques

-Enhance your coping abilities

-Help you identify behavior patterns that no longer work for you

-Assist you in identifying blocking beliefs that hold you back from achieving your goals

Imago Therapy

Even in a relationship that feels great, there are times when partners can feel alone, unsupported, and unloved. What's going on?  When the early excitement of falling in love fades, differences which once felt trivial become the source of disagreement and frustration.

Imago Relationship theory explains why these differences are actually a natural part of what originally attracted you to each other. Using insights from brain studies and other major psychological research, we can help you look at the story of your relationship in a fresh way.

Exploring, understanding, and appreciating your differences can become the most joyous experience of your life, and a path to last love The Imago Dialogue is a simple, respectful, and effective way to talk with your partner about the things that really matter.

In Imago, there's no blame, shame, or criticism. Instead, a stronger connection comes though attentive listening and being deeply heard in an emotionally safe environment. Then surprising answers to age-old conflicts can emerge.

Imago is based on the best-selling book "Getting The Love You Want", by Harville Hendrix, PhD who co-founded Imago Relationships International together with his partner, Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD.

Imago weaves together leading psychological theories and practical observations on the experience of love, offering an approach to relationships that is both compelling and easy to understand.
